⚙️ Top 20 TiviMate Tweaks for Better Streaming

Want TiviMate to look cleaner, run smoother, and be easier to use? Try these 20 recommended settings and tweaks.

⚙️ Important: Complete #1 through #19 first, then create your backup in #20.

⚙️ 1. Set Buffer Size to Medium

Go to:

Settings → Playback → Buffer Size → Medium

Medium is a great starting point for most users because it provides a good balance between fast channel loading and stable playback.

Tip: If your connection is extremely stable, try Small. If you experience frequent pauses, test Large.

⚙️ 2. Turn Auto Frame Rate ON

Go to:

Settings → Playback → Auto Frame Rate → ON

Auto Frame Rate helps your streaming device match the frame rate of the content you're watching. This can improve motion, especially during sports and movies.

Tip: If your screen goes black for several seconds every time you change channels, try turning Auto Frame Rate OFF.

⚙️ 3. Test Audio Passthrough

Go to:

Settings → Playback → Audio Passthrough

If you use a compatible TV, soundbar, or surround-sound receiver, try turning Audio Passthrough ON.

If certain channels suddenly have no sound, turn it back OFF.

⚙️ 4. Start With Your Last Channel

Go to:

Settings → General → Turn On Last Channel on App Start → ON

TiviMate can automatically return to the channel you were watching when you last closed the app.

⚙️ 5. Auto Start TiviMate When Your Device Boots

Go to:

Settings → General → Auto Start App on Boot → ON

This is great if your streaming device is mainly used for watching TV.

Note: Some Google TV and Android TV devices may restrict automatic app launching.

⚙️ 6. Update EPG When TiviMate Starts

Go to:

Settings → EPG → Update EPG on App Start → ON

This helps keep your TV Guide information current each time you open TiviMate.

⚙️ 7. Set Automatic EPG Updates

Go to:

Settings → EPG → Update Interval

Set your guide to update automatically throughout the day so program information stays current.

You usually don't need to update it constantly. Every few hours is normally enough.

⚙️ 8. Reduce Old EPG Data

Go to:

Settings → EPG → Past Days to Keep EPG

If you don't use catch-up television, keeping only a small amount of old guide information can reduce unnecessary stored data.

Recommended: Try 1 day if you don't need older guide listings.

⚙️ 9. Update Your Playlist

Go to:

Settings → Playlists → Select Your Playlist → Update Playlist

If channels have been added, removed, renamed, or moved, updating your playlist helps TiviMate load the latest available lineup.

Tip: If channels suddenly disappear, update your playlist before deleting or rebuilding anything.

⚙️ 10. Hide Groups You Never Watch

Go to:

Settings → Playlists → Select Your Playlist → Manage Groups

Turn OFF categories you never use.

This makes your channel list much cleaner and reduces unnecessary scrolling.

⚙️ 11. Reorder Your Channel Groups

Inside your playlist's group-management options, move your most-used categories toward the top.

A simple setup might be:

⚙️ Favorites
⚙️ Local Channels
⚙️ Sports
⚙️ News
⚙️ Entertainment
⚙️ Movies

Put the categories you watch most where they're easiest to reach.

⚙️ 12. Build Your Favorites List

Open your TV Guide, highlight a channel, then:

Press & Hold OK/Select → Add to Favorites

Repeat this for the channels you watch regularly.

Tip: Once you're finished, Favorites can become your main everyday channel list.

⚙️ 13. Reorder Your Favorite Channels

Open your Favorites group and use the channel options to choose:

Reorder Channels

Move your most-watched channels toward the top.

You can create your own personalized channel lineup instead of using the original playlist order.

⚙️ 14. Assign the Correct EPG to a Channel

If one channel says No Information or shows the wrong program information:

Highlight Channel → Open Channel Options → Assign EPG

Search for the correct guide listing and assign it to that channel.

This can fix one broken guide listing without changing the rest of your EPG.

⚙️ 15. Fix an EPG That's an Hour Early or Late

If the program information is correct but the time is wrong:

Channel Options → EPG Time Offset

Move the guide forward or backward until it matches what is actually playing.

For example, if the guide is one hour behind, try a +1 hour adjustment.

⚙️ 16. Clean Up Channel Names

Look under:

Settings → Appearance → TV Guide → Channel Names Editor

Some playlists use names like:

US | ESPN HD

You may prefer:

ESPN HD

Removing unnecessary prefixes and suffixes can make your guide look much cleaner.

⚙️ 17. Fix Missing or Incorrect Channel Logos

Look under:

Settings → Appearance → Logos

Try changing the available Logo Priority option if logos are missing or incorrect.

Depending on your playlist and EPG, one logo source may look much better than another.

⚙️ 18. Turn TV Guide Preview ON

Go to:

Settings → Appearance → TV Guide → Preview → ON

TV Guide Preview lets you continue seeing your current channel while browsing through the guide.

This gives TiviMate a more polished, traditional TV-guide experience.

⚙️ 19. Set a Previous Channel Remote Shortcut

Go to:

Settings → Remote Control

Choose a convenient remote button and assign it to:

Previous Channel

Now you can instantly switch back and forth between two channels without reopening the guide.

This is especially useful for sports and live events.

⚙️ 20. BACK UP EVERYTHING WHEN YOU'RE DONE

Do this step LAST.

Once your Favorites, groups, EPG, remote controls, appearance, and playback settings are exactly how you want them:

Settings → General → Backup Data

Your backup can preserve:

⚙️ Playlists
⚙️ Favorites
⚙️ Channel organization
⚙️ Group organization
⚙️ EPG settings
⚙️ Remote-control settings
⚙️ Appearance settings
⚙️ Other TiviMate preferences

Do not skip the backup.

If you ever reinstall TiviMate, reset your streaming device, or move to another compatible device, having a backup can save you from rebuilding your setup from scratch.

⚙️ QUICK TROUBLESHOOTING TIP

When trying to fix a TiviMate problem, change only ONE setting at a time.

This includes problems such as:

⚙️ Buffering
⚙️ Choppy playback
⚙️ Audio problems
⚙️ Slow channel loading
⚙️ Frame-rate problems
⚙️ Missing guide information

Change one setting, test the same channel again, and see if the problem improves.

If you change several settings at once, you won't know which setting actually fixed or caused the problem.
